Britam Rwanda is seeking an actuarial professional to provide technical support in actuarial modeling, pricing, reserving, regulatory reporting, and IFRS 17 compliance. The role aims to enhance data-driven decision-making, financial reporting accuracy, product development, and risk management in alignment with actuarial standards and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform actuarial valuations and support quarterly financial closing processes
Review and refine pricing models and underwriting assumptions
Develop and maintain actuarial models (reserving, capital, and experience studies)
Analyze claims and loss ratio trends; develop forecasting models
Prepare actuarial reports for submission to regulators in line with BNR standards
Ensure IFRS 17 compliance, including CSM and risk adjustment calculations
Contribute to product development through pricing and profitability analysis
Work with reinsurance teams to optimize structures and assess loss mitigation strategies
Assist with audits through data analysis and model documentation
Collaborate with the Group Actuarial team for strategic alignment
Job Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in actuarial roles, preferably in life or general insurance
Certifications and Skills:
Progress toward actuarial certification (SOA, IFoA, ASSA, or similar)
Proficient in actuarial and analytical tools (e.g., Prophet, ResQ, Excel, SQL, Python)
Strong knowledge of IFRS 17 and Rwandan insurance regulatory frameworks
Detail-oriented with the ability to communicate complex findings clearly
Membership in a recognized actuarial professional body is required
