The CSSD Attendant is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing surgical instruments and medical supplies. The role ensures compliance with sterilization and infection control standards to support patient safety and effective medical services.
Clean, disinfect, wrap, and sterilize surgical tools and medical supplies.
Operate and maintain autoclaves and other sterilization equipment.
Monitor sterilization indicators to verify effectiveness.
Store and organize sterilized items for easy access in medical departments.
Maintain accurate sterilization records and equipment logs.
Report defective instruments or machines for repair/replacement.
Follow strict infection control and safety protocols.
Assist in tracking inventory and ordering sterilization materials.
Minimum: Advanced Certificate (A2) in a relevant healthcare field.
Preferred: Additional certificate in Sterile Processing or Infection Control.
At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in:
Sterilization
Infection Control
Knowledge of sterilization techniques (e.g., steam, chemical).
Familiarity with autoclaves and sterilization equipment.
Understanding of infection prevention and control procedures.
Strong attention to detail and organization.
Ability to keep accurate records.
Physically fit and able to handle heavy equipment.
Committed to cleanliness, safety, and hospital compliance.
Certification in sterile processing or infection control (advantageous but not mandatory).
Prior experience in an Operating Theatre or high-volume hospital setting.
