Job Description

The Sales Representative will drive sales profitability, growth, and account penetration in assigned territories through effective selling of company products. Responsibilities include developing route-to-consumer strategies, promoting customer-centric approaches, managing promotions, reporting, and building strong client relationships. The position reports to the Soft Drink Development Manager and the Regional Business Manager.


Key Responsibilities

Market Development & Execution

  • Implement sales strategies to penetrate new markets and expand sales.

  • Identify and pursue growth opportunities.

  • Maintain relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction.

  • Optimize point-of-sale material use.

  • Provide feedback to management on product and service opportunities.

Perfect Execution

  • Apply Customer Relationship Management standards (quality, availability, visibility, price compliance, promotions).

  • Manage portfolio and assets in the area.

  • Support outlet owners in financial, product assortment, service, and relationship management.

  • Ensure consistent execution of outlet quality and promotional strategies.

Promotions

  • Negotiate advertising and sales agreements.

  • Recommend outlets for promotions and participate in marketing events.

  • Monitor sales before, during, and after promotions.

  • Evaluate promotion effectiveness and recommend future actions.

Reporting

  • Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports via the SEM system.

  • Track asset data, outlet activations, and performance versus targets.

  • Provide results of promotions and initiatives.

Customer Centricity

  • Achieve territory Net Promoter Score (NPS) goals.

  • Identify and address territory challenges.

  • Promote a customer-focused culture.

  • Contribute to distributor development and best practices.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business, Economics, or related field.

  • 2+ years’ experience in sales/commercial roles, preferably in consumer goods.

  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda (French is an advantage).

  • Valid Rwandan driving license (must be included in CV).


Other Requirements

  • Flexibility to work in any province in Rwanda.

  • Ability to work in a multicultural, multilingual environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong project management and market research skills.

  • Proficient time management, planning, and organizational abilities.

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Strong understanding of Route-to-Consumer (RTC), channels, shoppers, and consumer behavior.

  • Selling and negotiation skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google tools, and social media (Facebook, Twitter).


Good to Have

  • Experience in trade marketing or promotional strategy.

  • Previous experience in multinational or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies.

  • Strong analytical and reporting abilities.
